  • After more than 3 months...

Is it so bad that it is past midnight and I want to eat leftover spaghetti and make some garlic bread?

On another note, you know those neutral gifts that you give teachers in elementary school (i.e. "best teacher" Christmas ornaments, gift sets from Bed Bath & Beyond, and mugs) that are a little bit on the "whatever" note? Well I got my first one and it's not boring and lame at all...

On the contrary, I got excited because it's a very nice/sweet birthday gift and it's my first "teacher mug." Sort of a nice little reminder that I will be starting school again and a little closer making my career happen. Aside from all the sentimentality this mug has now, it's made my desk organized! I hate having all my pens/pencils rolling around my desk. My dad concluded that since I would not be in school for awhile, he can take all my drawers and fill all available storage space with files/computer/office supplies. I used to have to look for a pen and rummage around my room or my backpack. Now, every time I need a pen or pencil, I blissfully take one from my mug and appreciate God's gift of convenience.

  • After Christmas...

Christmas is always fun at my grandparents' house...

There's always things to look at such as the oddities and whatnots...

...lots of food to eat. And yes, that is a LaChoy put into a ketchup bottle. It's genius and not messy at all, haha...

    ...the Laker game was on...

Back in my day, we didn't have digital dogs. We had electronic dogs. None of those fancy lights and magnetic bones. Just barking and flipping, haha...

We also have a new tradition, Christmas themed games. With prizes!

    Finally, the decorations...

sorry about the extreme brightness on some of them. I'm still learning, haha.

  • Epiphany

I have come to realize that my future will require a career that requires me to constantly challenge and enrich my mind. I am wasting away at home. My brain farts become more frequent. I don't utter a word for consecutive days. It's driving me crazy.

I saw a comment on facebook awhile ago that reminded me of Hum Core. Anyone remember the Star Trek unit? Darmok at Tanagra? I remember some of my friends attempted to talk this way every now and then.

  • Vent

Whoever wrote the CSET is out of their mind. They seriously need to look over the test with a fine tooth comb because who in their right mind would expect a teacher to remember that New Hampshire's landmark, the "Old Man in the Mountain" collapsed due to frost wedging ( a type of erosion)? Or that Venus is a planet with retrograde rotation? I dislike these "trivia game show" questions with a passion. Yet, the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing believe that it is essential that all science teachers know about these factoids because, if not, students will be denied a competent and qualified teacher. I will even go as far as to say what many of us have asked before repeatedly in our lives, "When am I ever going to use this?". I never learned this stuff in school. That or I don't remember, lol.

Granted, the majority of the questions asked are relevant and essential (I guess, lol) to know. There are still alot of those questions that make me question how anyone would be able to answer them unless they were 4 week champions on Jeopardy. Or maybe I just have a really bad study guide book. With all the typos and incorrect information on it, it also prompts me to question the validity and the accuracy of the book I am heavily relying on to help me pass the exams.

So I have come to the conclusion that despite my frustrations, I am glad that my four years at UCI didn't go to waste. Recognizing the wishy washy explanations that were made in in my study guide made me feel smart again. Hopefully, smart enough to pass these wretched, wicked, horrible, stupid exams, lol.

I want to watch HSM3 so I can escape the ridiculousness of the reality of life and be immersed in ridiculous plot lines, acting, and songs, lol.

P.S. Did you know that neap tides are very weak tides that occur when the sun and moon are in a perpendicular arrangement to the Earth? They only occur during the quarter moon phase. Yeah, I didn't know, either.
...it would be cool if I had a lens that would get really close. But, woe is me, the sad realities of a graduate, lol.

  • Catechsim with Mr. Lennar

Explaining the holy Trinity was harder than I thought. Especially when you try to explain it to 8th graders. Today was a fail, lol. I wish I was old school and just said, "This is how it is! Believe it whether you like it or not." Well, not really, but it would've made the hour and a half pass by faster.
